Bathroom Procedures-We had to spend some time today talking about appropriate times to use the bathroom in the kindergarten room. Lately we have had many students taking advantage of our open bathroom policy. So today we brainstormed the best times of the day to use the bathroom. We made a poster with green light times and red light times. We found out there are many more times in the day that are good times to use the bathroom ("green" light times to use the bathroom). When Mrs. Milow is giving directions or teaching a lesson it is a "red" light time. We still have an open bathroom policy, but we are trying to use better times of the day to use the bathroom so it does not interrupt our learning. Mrs. Milow is giving reminders to use the "green" light times to use the bathroom before we have a learning time at our learning circle.

Some of our students found 100 or more squares in our classroom during the square hunt. The students used tally marks to keep track of how many squares they found. We made patterns using squares and pictures using squares.

I set up a voting booth. Each student came up to the voting booth and voted on a ballet and put the ballet in the secret ballet box. Then they got a "I Voted" sticker to wear. We talked about how voting is private and you don't have to tell who you voted for. We also talked about how old they had to be to vote in a real presidential election. We had our secret ballot counter, (Ben's dad), count our votes. Fourteen of our students voted for Barack Obama and 8 voted for John McCain. The students really enjoyed "voting". It was very fun! Happy voting everyone!
