Nov. 10

Morning Meeting-We introduced our new Alpha Friend, Bennie Bear, today. We did the Bennie Bear song for our movement. We shared the letter bucket, Surprise Suitcase and the Star Suitcase. Sara shared the Star Suitcase today.
Bathroom Procedures-We had to spend some time today talking about appropriate times to use the bathroom in the kindergarten room. Lately we have had many students taking advantage of our open bathroom policy. So today we brainstormed the best times of the day to use the bathroom. We made a poster with green light times and red light times. We found out there are many more times in the day that are good times to use the bathroom ("green" light times to use the bathroom). When Mrs. Milow is giving directions or teaching a lesson it is a "red" light time. We still have an open bathroom policy, but we are trying to use better times of the day to use the bathroom so it does not interrupt our learning. Mrs. Milow is giving reminders to use the "green" light times to use the bathroom before we have a learning time at our learning circle.
Specials-We had Phy. Ed. today.
Special Event-Bob Gasch came to our school today to share a Paul Bunyan story with us. He told the story without using a book. It was very funny. Ask your child what Paul Bunyan ate for breakfast. He will be back in our school tomorrow night for our family literacy night from 6:30 to 7:30. Bring your family and a blanket for a fun night listening to stories about going to Grandma and Grandpa's house for Thanksgiving.
Read Aloud-We read "Arthur's Family Vacation"
Rest Time-We read our chapter book, "Flat Stanley". We read the chapter about Stanley tricking the sneaky thieves at the museum. Tomorrow we will finish our first chapter book.
Math-We did calendar and our calendar book. We had square day in math. We found out a square is different from a rectangle because all four of its sides are exactly the same. Some of our students found 100 or more squares in our classroom during the square hunt. The students used tally marks to keep track of how many squares they found. We made patterns using squares and pictures using squares.
*Please mark all of your child's outdoor clothes if possible. Some of our clothes are already getting lost. Thanks for your help.
