I gave very specific one or two step directions. I was very specific about expectations. After math, I told the kids about my checklist. Then, as a surprise, the students who used good listening skills for all of my directions got to go over to Mrs. Jurek's room for a special playtime. The other students stayed with me and we did a listening activity to practice our listening skills. We also talked about the importance of good listening in school. Some of the kids who did not get to go to Mrs. Jurek's class were sad. Open House

Welcome to Kindergarten!

Thanks for coming to open house. I am looking forward to the first day of school. Here are a couple of things to remember on the first day...
1. Make sure your child is wearing his/her bus tag.
2. Send a snack labeled with your child's name.
3. I will meet your child at the "Meeting Place" by the bus doors. If your child is not riding the bus, please bring him/her to the "Meeting Place" instead of the classroom.
4. Please send paperwork back in the open house envelope-it is very important that we have your child's emergency card on file on the first day of school.
5. Have your child wear comfortable shoes and clothes-we will be active and busy all day. Your child will be going on the playground after lunch everyday.

This is an exciting day for your child. Your child may be happy, excited, nervous or sad on the first day. Please reassure them that I will be there to greet them right off the bus. I will give them lots of hugs, smiles and support. We will be busy with many fun activities. We will have a super first day of school together!

If you have any questions for me, you can reply to this blog (everyone will be able to see your reply) or you can email or call me at school.

I am very excited to have your child in my kindergarten class and look forward to working with all of you this year.
