Sept. 18

Free Choice Time-We finished with our elbow painting. Check for yellow elbows -I tried to get them clean. We also had golf ball painting for the letter Gg. For dramatic play, I set up a 3 Bears area with a big bowl, medium bowl, and small bowl along with 3 chairs and 3 "beds" (towels). I had the 3 bear headbands and a Goldilocks headband. The kids took turns acting out different parts of the story. It was very fun.
Morning Meeting-We did "Going on a Bear Hunt" for our movement activity. They loved it. We went on a bridge, swam a river, up a tree, through a wheat field until we got to the cave...we found the bear!
Specials-We went to art with Mrs. Karg. We painted with water color paints. Mrs. Karg would like a paint shirt for art. A couple of students have one at school. Please send an old shirt labeled with your child's name if you can.
Shared Reading-Nursery Rhymes-Jack and Jill, Hey Diddle, Diddle and Humpty Dumpty.
Read Aloud-Our Classroom and When Dinosaurs Go To School
Reading Activity-Introduction to Gg and Hh. We also made a face to go in our big bus we painted this week. We each have a rule to go with our bus painting.
Writer's Workshop-Today during our mini-lesson, we learned about adding onto a story...adding more to the picture and adding more words. We also talked about starting a new piece. We learned when I am done, I can add to the pictures, add more words or start a new story. At the end, we have a quick share. It has been fun seeing all of their ideas for stories. Today a couple of kids wrote about the Vikings, someone wrote about a dolphin he saw on a cruise with his family, someone wrote about their fish. Ask your child what he/she wrote about today during Writers Workshop.
Rest Time-Lyle, Lyle Crocodile
Math-Number Grid and the Dice Game with partners
We went outside for 5 minutes before dismissal.
