Sept. 16

Morning Meeting-Movement Activity-Touch your nose, Touch your toes
Specials-Phy. Ed. and Library
Read Aloud-The three Bears
Reading Activity-We introduced the letters Cc and Dd today. When we introduce a new letter, we learn how to make that letter in sign language. We also practice writing the new letters with our "magic" marker. We also started our word wall today. We are adding words under our Alphabet letters in the front of our room that we know. As we introduce the letters, we are adding the first names of the students in our room to our word wall. We have also added the word "bus" and "pig" because we learned how to spell these words last week. We added "is" and "today" because we see those two words everyday in our morning message.
Reading Centers-We are making an Abc book with art. Today we made Aa for ants, we used our fingers to make the ants. We made Bb for blueberries. We used our fingers and dot paints to make blueberries. Cc for cotton ball creations. Dd for dot paint designs. We also had coin rubbing with crayons for the letter Cc. We did a letter find. We read a poem and then highlighted all of the Cc words we found.
Rest time-We listened to Baa Baa Black Sheep
Math -We started using our calendar books today. We wrote the numbers on a calendar up to 16. We colored the pattern on our calendar to match the pattern on our classroom calendar. We colored 11 squares on our days of school page. We colored on our weather graph. We made tally marks. We wrote the month "September" on our tally and weather graph pages. We will be using these books daily with calendar. Today we spent a long time on them because it was our first day. Now it will go quickly when we are just adding todays information to our books. The students are very excited about them.
We played outside at the end of the day.

*Please return the Learning to Read bag everyday. We will put 2 new letters in them daily. If your child already knows these words, have them write words or find words that start with that letter.
