Sept. 29

Morning Meeting-We sang our sunflower song again. We also chanted and acted out the Gingerbread man rhyme. This week is Gingerbread man week. For our quick share, we shared our favorite part of sunflower day. Overall the kids liked picking seeds out of the sunflowers.
Specials-We had music with Mrs. Engbloom in the keyboard lab.
MAPS test-We had our first MAPS test today. We will have our next one on Wednesday. Todays test was on reading skills.
Read Aloud-The Sunflower and The Gingerbread Man
Reading Activity-We introduced the letters Uu and Vv.
Writers Workshop-We didn't have any time since we had MAPS testing.
Rest Time-We listened to 5 LIttle Sharks Swimming in the Sea
Math-Calendar & Calendar Book
We also made a large age graph as a class and then made a small graph to take home. As students have birthdays, our graph will be changing. Students will be moving their square to the next age. Right now we have 14 students who are 5 and 7 students who are 6.
Science-We read a book called "Leaf Man". Then the students who brought leaves shared their favorite 2 leaves. Tomorrow we are going to use our leaves for math...sorting, counting, patterns. We will also put them in order from biggest to smallest. We will be making leaf creatures tomorrow too.
***Please have your child bring some leaves tomorrow if they haven't already.***
*Fire Station Field Trip permission slip came home today. Please return it as soon as possible. There is no fee for this field trip.
