Sept. 3 & Sept. 4

Sept. 3
We had another fun day in kindergarten. We are spending lots of time learning all of our kindergarten procedures.
*Morning Meeting-We always do the "Hello Song", Morning Message, Surprise Suitcase and the Happy Dance. We also try to do a fun movement activity and a quick share. We did the "Freeze" song and we tapped and clapped our names. Our quick share was "kindergarten is fun because..."
*We had Phy. Ed. with Mrs. Lingo.
*Reading-Our read aloud was "I Love School". Our shared reading was "Hooray for School". We drew ourselves with crayons and added the words "I Love School". We hung them up above our lockers. They are too cute!
*Rest Time- We listened to the story "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom".
*Math-Partner Match-Each student go a piece of paper of different lengths. Each student had to find the student that matched their paper and they became math partners. Then they played the game Race to Trace.
We also had free choice time and outside time.

Sept. 4
*Morning Meeting-Movement activity "Silly Pirate Song" and Roll the Ball game. Our quick share was favorite food.
*Reading Activities-Our Read aloud story was "Look Out Kindergarten Here I Come". Our shared reading was a song-I Like to Come to School. We made a kindergarten student out of construction paper.
*We had art today with Mrs. Karg. They read the story "Harold and the Purple Crayon" and then made a little book with their purple crayon. Some students still need to share their drawings next week and will bring them home then.
*Rest time-We listened to the story "Pirate Pete's Big Adventure".
*Math-Today we had an introduction to measurement. We looked at a yard stick, a ruler and a tape measure. Then we used a crayon to measure with. We measured together first. We did some estimating. Then each student used a crayon to measure their school box, pencil, chair, a friend and themselves. At the end, they had a chance to measure other things in the room. Some kids measured doors, toys, blocks...It was a fun first measuring experience.
*We went outside and had free choice time.
