Dec. 9

Morning Meeting-We practice our songs. For our quick share we voted on which was their favorite song that we are practicing for the Winter Program. Rudolph is the favorite.
Specials-We had music today. They practiced their high and low sounds.
Read Aloud-We read "Fat Cat". We listened for the "at" words.
Shared Reading-We read the book "I Can". We used the pictures in the book to help us sound out words.
Game-We played the game a circle in the circle. The students in the middle of the circle held word cards with "at" words and sight word cards on them. The other students read the word and then moved around the circle until they came all around the circle. Then we switched spots.
Reading Activity-We had independent reading for 10 minutes. We practiced using pictures to help figure out unknown words.
Writer's Workshop-We are starting a lesson on writing across pages. We are going to pick an event or activity to write about and try to extend that idea across pages with more details. Today I read a story about a porcupine written by 7th grade students. It is called "Little Prickles". Tomorrow we are going to continue our lesson by talking about how they wrote the story across many pages instead of just one or two pages and how it made the story better with more details. More to come!
Rest Time-We finished our 3rd chapter book called "The Magic School Bus and the Shark Escape." We learned about many different kinds of sharks along the way. Tomorrow we are going to talk about the sharks and then pick a new chapter book.
Math-We had work jobs today.
