Nov. 18

Morning Meeting-We did the Nyle Noodle song. We are talking about how to earn stars this week. We have been earning stars as a class when we are star students. Now we will be earning stars as individuals. I have introduced the first two star colors. Green is for showing respect. Yellow is for treating each other with kindness.
Specials-We went to art today. We were such good listeners that we earned our last 3 stars for our star student chart.
Star Student Reward-We have earned 100 stars for being Star Students!!! We will be having a PJ party in the afternoon on Friday, Nov. 21 to celebrate our good behavior. Your child can bring pajamas, a stuffed animal and a small blanket. We will be reading books and watching a movie with popcorn! We are very excited.
Read Aloud-We read "Thanksgiving is for Giving Thanks." We shared something we were thankful for.
Shared Reading-We read the poem, ""Thanks for...". We found all of the Nn's in the poem. We also found all of the rhyming words. We practiced sounding out words.
Reading Activity-We drew pictures of things we are thankful for.
Writer's Workshop-We learned about writing letters today. Some students are bringing home a letter he/she wrote during writer's workshop. Some kids are still finishing up their booklets.
Rest Time-We finished our 2nd chapter book-"Stanley, Flat Again." Then we drew pictures and shared our favorite part in either book, Flat Stanley or Stanley, Flat Again. We will be voting on a new chapter book to start tomorrow.
Math-We did calendar. Then we did work jobs. All of the kids are now working on the 2nd set of workjobs. Most of the workjobs have to do with counting, and recognizing numbers up to 100. They worked hard today. Thank you to our volunteers, Beth, Dawn and Nicolle.
